228 homes on 32 acres approved in Mesa next to Dreamland Villa

A total of 228 two-story homes will be constructed next to the Dreamland Villa and Velda Rose housing subdivisions in requests approved unanimously by the Mesa City Council.

The property at 5656 E. Albany St. is the site of the recently closed nine-hole Dreamland Villa Golf Course. It is generally northwest of East Albany Street and North 57th Place, south of University Drive.

The landowner is Dreamland Golf Limited Partnership. The area is slated to be developed by Williams Lyon Homes, according to a document prepared by Iplan Consulting. A loop street network connects private drives with Albany Street. Similar homes have been built at Lyon’s Gate Gilbert, according to the document.

The unincorporated Maricopa County housing subdivisions of Dreamland Villa and Velda Rose have age-restricted, 55-and-up senior overlays.
