3 Valley cities clear first hurdle for Google Fiber

It’s unclear if Google will build its ultra high-speed Internet network in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe but all three cities have cleared a first hurdle by submitting infrastructure reports to the Silicon Valley tech giant.

Each of the cities met an April 30 deadline to provide detailed engineering information Google requested to learn whether developing its Google Fiber network here is technically feasible.

The next-generation fiber-optic network would provide data speeds of 1 gigabit, roughly 100 times faster than current Internet speeds.
