Avondale mayor resigning today to run for Maricopa County supervisor

Democrat Avondale Mayor Marie Lopez Rogers has filed her paperwork to run for the District 5 post on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors vacated when Mary Rose Wilcox announced for Rep. Ed Pastor’s seat in Congress.

State Senator Anna Tovar (D) has formed an exploratory committee to run for the District 5 seat.

The district covers parts of South Phoenix, Guadalupe, Gila Bend and the Gila River Community.
