Gilbert Town Square apartment project’s future unclear

Business owners and neighbors wondering about the future of a four-story apartment complex proposed in the Gilbert Town Square commercial center will have to wait a little longer to learn the project’s fate.

Residences at Gilbert Town Square, a $36 million project unveiled last year by developer Paul Stark, was initially scheduled to break ground in January, but there is no evidence of construction activity.

Although residents in the nearby Raven Ranch neighborhood had protested the complex amid concerns it would drive down property values and diminish privacy, surrounding businesses have eagerly awaited the influx of apartment-dwellers as a potential new customer base.
