Official results show Johnson Utilities sale to Town of Florence has passed [UPDATED]

In a special election held Tuesday, May 20, Florence voters have given the Florence Town Council permission to purchase a water utilities company.

According to the final results, 1,536 — 37.44 percent of the town’s 4,103 registered voters — cast a ballot in the May 20 special election. Of those, 866 — or 56.38 percent — voted to approve the town’s proposed purchase of Johnson Utilities LLC, a San Tan Valley-based water and waste-water utility company.

Casting their ballot against the proposed purchase were 670 voters — or 43.62 percent — of the town’s registered voters.
