Mohave County Supervisor Joy Brotherton died at her home in Kingman Monday.

A spokeswoman for the family, Barbara Ricca, said Brotherton was with family and friends when she died about 3:00 p.m.

Ricca said Brotherton, 75, died of a “serious, undisclosed illness.” She was hospitalized at Kingman Regional Medical Center on April 10 before she was discharged May 13.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Hildy Angius previously disclosed that Brotherton was being treated for a serious blood infection. Brotherton enjoyed a successful 24-year real estate career before being elected supervisor in November 2012.

Brotherton was more than halfway through her four-year term at the time of her death. Services are pending.
