A completely redesigned housing project is moving forward on a once-controversial site in Chandler.

The proposal to bring 35 single-family homes to a 6-acre plot near the southeastern corner of McQueen and Willis roads was supported unanimously by the Chandler Planning and Zoning Commission on May 7.

The City Council is scheduled to consider the project Thursday, May 22.

The gated community would have homes of about 2,300 to 2,400 square feet. Homes would have three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two-car garages, according to planning documents.
