Peoria City Council voted to keep its secret ballot process for filling council vacancies despite what one city attorney called a “threat” from the Attorney General’s Office

Attorney General’s Office and a First Amendment expert say secret ballots are not in line with the spirit of the Arizona Open Meetings Law

Mayor Bob Barrett, who voted against keeping the secret ballots, said the city is “picking a stupid fight.”
