Pinal crops ahead of schedule

The past winter’s long stretch of warm, sunny days and minimal rain have been good for Ak-Chin Farms near Maricopa.

Barley and potato harvests are ahead of schedule. Cotton was planted early and the golden tassels of the farm’s silage corn are already developing.

“Everything is ahead of schedule,” said Steve Coester, farm manager.
