Scottsdale plans to file applications this summer to purchase 405 acres of state trust land to add to its McDowell Sonoran Preserve, including desert that could accommodate a major trailhead at Pima Road and Dynamite Boulevard.
The Arizona State Land Department could auction off the properties in 2015, which involves the following areas:
• 290 acres on the northeastern corner of Pima and Dynamite, which the city has designated as the site for a trailhead.
• 115 acres encompassing the Western edge and embankments of the Rawhide Wash. The land borders the preserve to the east and north of Dynamite.
