Touchmark touches a nerve: Public divided on pros, cons of senior housing project

PRESCOTT, Arizona – Residents from one side of the highway view the proposed Touchmark at the Ranch project as an “overbearing” facility that would change the landscape of Prescott, while many from the other side see the senior housing complex as a needed addition to the community.

Both sides had an opportunity to air their views in front of the Prescott City Council at a special meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting attracted nearly 100 people – from both the Yavapai Hills neighborhood on the north side of Highway 69, and from The Ranch neighborhood on the south side. And for the most part, the support/opposition to the project appeared to be separated by neighborhood.
