FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Apache Junction Development Fees Significantly Reduced

During the May 20, 2014 Apache Junction City Council meeting, Resolution No. 14-27 and Ordinance No. 1399, both pertaining to development fees, were adopted. Overall development fees are decreasing from 30% up to 58% based on the land use category (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.). Single family permit fees are going from $9,139 to $4,925, which is a 46% reduction. The new development fees will be effective, Monday, August 4.

Local municipalities base development impact fees within the boundaries outlined by Arizona State law. Development fees are assessed proportionally and the funds must be used within the guidelines of Arizona Revised Statue 9-463.05. As a result of the change, Apache Junction’s development fees are competitive with fees of surrounding areas.
