Campaign complaint filed against court clerk

A complaint alleging Clerk of the Superior Court Chad Roche asked his employees to collect petition signatures to get his name on the ballot has been filed with the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.

According to the complaint, Roche held a meeting with his senior staff on Jan. 28, asking them to take signature sheets and collect names to get his name on the ballot. At the time, Roche was the only candidate to announce a run; his current opponent in the Republican primary, Amanda Stanford, was still working for the office at the time.

The complaint alleges that Roche told his employees that collecting the signatures was in their best interest, as their employment was likely dependent upon his re-election.
