Chandler City Council might send term-limit extension to voters

Chandler City Council on Thursday will discuss amending the city’s charter to allow council members to serve as many as three consecutive four-year terms and might send the question to the voters on Nov 4.

Council members are limited to two consecutive terms.

“Term limits … suggest that elections don’t work, that people would just keep electing someone whether they’re good or bad and I don’t really believe that,” said Councilman Jack Sellers, who introduced the amendment. “(Term limits) are insulting to voters. Voters should always get to decide who they want to represent them in an election.”
