A conservative group that wants to end Phoenix’s pension system is also hoping to derail a Glendale proposal to extend a sales tax hike beyond 2017.
The Arizona Free Enterprise Club is funding a ballot initiative that would have Glendale voters decide whether to keep what was supposed to be a temporary increase in the city’s sales-tax rate.
That initiative also would require a supermajority for the seven-member Glendale City Council to approve any future sales tax increases.
