Governor will do nothing about solar tax, her spokesman says

More than 200 solar-energy advocates and workers protested at the Arizona Capitol on Wednesday as the state prepares to collect property taxes on leased solar panels.

The event featured free T-shirts reading “Don’t Tax the Sun,” a performance by a group of senior-citizen cheerleaders, and solar- and tax-themed music played by a DJ, including the Beatles’ “Taxman.”

The protest targeted the state Department of Revenue’s decision to assess property taxes on leased solar panels, which will be due next year.
