Paradise Valley Town Council has approved a minor General Plan amendment putting into motion the demolition of what Mayor Scott LeMarr called a “nuisance property” that will eventually make way for a four-lot subdivision coined Kachina Estates.
The housing proposal was unanimously approved by Paradise Valley Town Council at a June 12 public hearing at Town Hall, 6401 E. Lincoln Drive.
The 4.1-acre site, which was at one time the Kachina Day School, is at 6602 and 6606 E. Malcomb Drive.
The property owner, Kachina School Land Holdings LLC, gained three approvals: A minor General Plan amendment, a rezoning of the property and approval for the preliminary plat of the site.
The final plat of the proposed subdivision must be filed with the Town of Paradise Valley no later than one year following the preliminary plat approval of Paradise Valley Town Council, town code states.
Paradise Valley resident Tim White, who lives adjacent to the property, called into question the measurements of the preliminary plat proposed, saying the acreage of the site only calls for three lots due to set-back and easement restrictions along Malcomb Drive.
