Rose Law Group Director of Project Management Chris Webb comments on Maricopa zoning rewrite

The Maricopa Zoning Rewrite Task Force finished discussing the Zoning Code Draft Wednesday and voted unanimously to recommend it to the city Planning and Zoning Commission.

After making some last-minute tweaks Wednesday to the Zoning Code Final Review Draft, the Zoning Code Rewrite Task Force recommended it to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The task force made several amendments to the draft language, including removing off-track betting from the list of types of businesses that must be set back at least 150 feet from the highway. They also heard public comment from developers who questioned whether the code was development friendly.

Chris Webb, a planner for the Rose Law Group, said the development community is asking for more clarity in the code.
