As the town hopes get the final signatures it needs to wrap up two major annexations that will add more than 4,000 people to the town limits, some Magic Ranch residents are asking that their signatures come off the petition.
An opposition group has emerged in Magic Ranch to fight the annexation. A Magic Ranch resident told the Town Council Monday night that the town wants to increase its revenue stream “without doing the right thing for those communities.”
Phillip Hollins said the town didn’t do enough to alert him and his neighbors of the State Land Department’s request for Multifamily Residential and Highway Business zoning on 320 acres of state land near Magic Ranch.
“Transparency isn’t the strong suit of this town,” Hollins said.
