[COLUMN] Tom Horne owes John Huppenthal a nice stiff drink

At the very least our embattled state Attorney General Tom Horne should send a thank-you note to our embattled public schools superintendent John Huppenthal. Better yet, he should send flowers. Better still a bottle of 12-year-old single-malt scotch.

Last week the rest of us got so caught up on with the arrogance and stupidity of Huppenthal’s online posts (under the pseudonyms Falcon9 and Thucydides) that we hardly took note of how Horne hired some pals and campaign contributors to stage an “independent” internal investigation over whether he and his staff violated campaign finance laws.
