Doctor-researcher suffering from political PTSD

Dr. Sue Sisley, who was leading a first-of-its-kind study on using medical marijuana for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, says the University of Arizona’s shutting down the research project could put the field’s future at risk.

Nearly two weeks ago, university officials told Sisley that her contract will not be renewed, effectively killing her research into the efficacy of whole-plant marijuana as medicine.

She believes the move is politically motivated by opponents of marijuana legalization and will damage the future of such research.
