Candidates for Florence Town Council responded to a request from the Florence Reminder to provide their qualifications and their views on key issues by completing a questionnaire. Following is the first of three articles containing their responses.
The three candidates winning the most votes will be seated next year.
Florence voters will also be asked to renew the town’s “Home Rule Option” for spending. A “yes” vote allows the town to set its own budget based on revenues. A “no” vote limits the town budget by a state formula and will result in cuts. Voting yes does not increase taxes, nor is it a bond issue, according to the town of Florence.
The primary election will be held Aug. 26.
