Country star Jewel and husband of six years Ty Murray are calling it quits, the singer announced on her website Wednesday. Jewel wrote, “My husband, friend and partner of 16 years and I have decided to get a divorce.” The couple, who dated 10 years before tying the knot in 2008, say they will part on amicable terms. “Ty and I have always tried to live the most authentic life possible, and we wanted our separation as husband and wife to be nothing less loving than the way we came together.” She goes on to write that for some time, the couple has been ” engaged in a private and difficult, but thoughtful and tender undoing of ourselves.” Jewel promises her and Ty will remain close in order to raise their three year old son Kase together. “We did not want anger to burn the ties that bound us,” she further explains, in a most elegant fashion. “Instead we have chosen the much more difficult task of undoing ourselves stich by stich, and releasing each other with love so that we may take on our new form: dear friends and devoted co-parents of our beloved son Kase.” Kaine Fisher, Chairman of Rose Law Group Family Law Department adds, “Recent celebrity divorce announcements such as Jewel’s set a great example for the community. Divorce doesn’t always have to be a full on war that we’re used to seeing. The process can be amicable and done painlessly (although not emotionlessly) if you set your mind to it. Like Jewel and her ex, it’s important to keep your children in mind as first priority and make sure they are being taken care of and thought of. I’m hopeful that these celebrities will continue to set a great example for the rest of us and stick to their plan of “releasing each other with love.””
