Tempe – Lennar Mutifamily Communities plans to build 395 apartments south of Arizona State University at Dorsey Lane and Apache Boulevard in Tempe. The company is assembling the 6.7-acre site in two purchases that are contingent on zoning approval. The planned apartments, being called The Hayden at Dorsey Station, are targeted for a location adjacent to a light rail station. A zoning application has been filed by Charles Huellmantel of Huellmantel & Affiliates in Tempe. Entitlement could be in place by October after neighborhood meetings and approval from council. Design plans from Todd & Associates Inc. in Phoenix show four levels of apartments stacked on top of a podium parking garage. The ground level of the five-story structure includes 4,242 sq. ft. of retail space. The mix of apartments is comprised of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Jason Ottman, pres. of development Southwest for Lennar Multifamily, says the company hopes to start construction second quarter 2015 with completion following in mid-2017. Continued
