Get a building permit for a $200,000-plus home in central Prescott today, and pay nearly $20,000. Or, pull a permit for the same home on Aug. 1, and pay less than $10,000.
That is the scenario that new home builders have faced over the summer, as the City of Prescott has prepared to implement new impact fees, which will be considerably lower.
The fee adjustments – driven largely by a 2011 state law – are required to go into effect this Friday.
