Queen Creek will get its first movie theater next spring.
The growing community of more than 31,000 residents hopes to get its first bowling alley or some other form of family entertainment as well, but that complex is still in the works.
The town recently approved a purchase agreement with Thompson Thrift to develop a mixed-use entertainment district on 20 acres in the Town Center. The Indiana-based company is buying the town-owned land just south of Rittenhouse Road and east of Ellsworth Loop Road in two phases for a total of about $5 million.
