People are speaking and Valley Metro is listening. Going on the road with six routes for the West Phoenix-Central Glendale high capacity transit service, the agency found its route choices were not the bee’s knees with many potential riders. Four routes were struck from further consideration and a new route along Camelback Road and Grand Avenue has been added for study.
The new route creates three options for final analysis in the quest to extend a rapid transit system into central Glendale. The extension is not necessarily a light rail train. Part of the feasibility study underway determines the best mode—light rail, streetcar or bus rapid transit. Modes have now been narrowed to Metro light rail or bus rapid transit.
