Glendale’s money woes continue with news about sports funding

Glendale City Council got an update on the status of funding for Cactus League facilities, especially to address the revenue streams and funding sources for the city owned Camelback Ranch spring training facility.

The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA) said during its presentation to the council it will not meet its financing goals originally projected 14 years ago when voters approved Prop. 302 for creation of AZSTA.

“The original model within Prop. 302 had very, very aggressive growth rates with no decline in the economy at all over the life of Prop. 302,” AZSTA Chief Financial Officer Kevin Daniels said.
