Buckeye has 1 contested race

home ruleVice Mayor Eric Orsborn, who owns a small construction business, is the incumbent in District 6. He is being challenged by Gregory Smith, a semiretired adjunct professor of accounting and business at Estrella Mountain Community College.

Voters also will be asked to negate the necessity of holding a home-rule-option election every four years.

In this election, voters will be asked to permanently give the city that authority instead of revisiting it on the ballot every four years. A yes vote does not increase taxes.

The Arizona Republic  reports the candidates’ position on the local issues.
