With an improving economy, enrollment at community colleges nationwide is trending downward. However, that’s not the case at Central Arizona College where the projected enrollment for Monday’s first day of classes is expected to be 3.5 percent higher than last year.
“It’s exciting for us,” said Jenni Gonzales, dean of enrollment services. “With the opening of our new campuses, even in the light of the economic situation as well as the national numbers, we are still up when it comes to unduplicated head count.”
As of last week, 5,300 students had enrolled throughout the college’s five campuses for the upcoming semester — including 2,200 at the Signal Peak Campus.
