Glendale’s sports arena could drop “Jobing.com” from its title in lieu of a new nine-year partnership between the Arizona Coyotes and Gila River Casinos that includes naming rights.
Ryan Van Velzer at The Arizona Republic reports the deal hinges on approval from the Glendale City Council, which is set to meet Sept. 9. If passed, Jobing.com Arena will officially become Gila River Arena on Sept. 10.
Originally known as Glendale Arena, the venue was completed in 2003 to the tune of $220 million with seating for about 18,000 fans.
In 2006, the arena changed its name to Jobing.com.
The city of Glendale stands to earn $600,000 per year in naming rights, in addition to ticket surcharge fees and other revenue streams, for at least the next couple of years, said Anthony LeBlanc, Arizona Coyotes co-owner, president and CEO.
