Maricopa County officials are mailing out more than 8,500 replacement ballots to Peoria residents after a City Council candidate’s name was left off the ballot.
Officials in the county elections department mailed out 8,577 ballots for the Aug. 26 primary election on Friday to residents in the Mesquite District, but council candidate Ken Krieger’s name was not on it, department director Karen Osborne said.
“I personally apologize for the error and we want everyone to know that we are scrambling as fast as we can to get this rectified,” Osborne said.
