Scottsdale City Manager Fritz Behring is on medical leave following complications from a recent surgery, city officials said at the Aug. 18 Scottsdale City Council meeting.
“City Manager Fritz Behring is out on medical leave recovering from complications from surgery and he hopes to return sometime around the end of September,” said Scottsdale spokesman Kelly Corsette in an Aug. 18 e-mail.
“In the meantime, Water Resources Director Brian Biesemeyer will continue to serve as acting city manager.”
Scottsdale City Council last May voted unanimously hiring then Pinal County Manager Fritz Behring as Scottsdale’s next city manager.
Mr. Behring has more than 20 years of experience in government administration. He has previously served as city manager of Central City, Neb.; Fort Meade, Fla.; and Deltona, Fla.; and county manager of Clay County, Fla.
Mr. Behring was one of three finalists interviewed by Scottsdale City Council.
