Mary Jo Pitzl at The Arizona Republic reports that in east Phoenix/Paradise Valley, Shawnna Bolick finished 390 votes ahead of Mary Hamway in the Republican primary for state House of Representatives. Hamway’s defeat in Legislative District 28 means none of the challengers Gov. Jan Brewer had backed for legislative seats won in Tuesday’s election.

Rep. Kate Brophy McGee won the nomination for the other House seat in LD 28 on Tuesday.

In the north Valley, Rep. John Allen bested challenger David Burnell Smith by 32 votes in the GOP primary for a state House seat. Rep. Heather Carter of Cave Creek handily won the other House seat representing Legislative District 15 on election night, besting her closest challenger by more than 6 percentage points.

In southwest Phoenix, Rep. Martin Quezada of Phoenix won the Democratic primary for a state Senate seat over fellow House member Lydia Hernandez.
