From the outset, people who homesteaded in Queen Creek built farm-oriented lives in a close-knit community on the southeastern edge of the Valley.
Incorporated 25 years ago this week, the town of about 33,000 residents still boasts many of the same attributes — wide-open spaces, homes with plenty of property, farm fields, trails for horse riders and a low crime rate.
That simpler life, coupled with good schools and community, drew Jamie Jones, a mother of six, to Queen Creek from rural Pennsylvania a decade ago.
“We knew we had the prospect of having a nice new home in a new community where our children could be around farms and around animals and know what a simple life was,” Jones said.
