Farmers win on water: get reprieve from ag extinguishment credit phase-out

The clock won’t start ticking until January 2019 on a plan to phase-out agricultural extinguishment credits. Tuesday, the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council approved a five-year delay of the Arizona Department of Water Resources’ plan to gradually do away with the credits.

The board had discussed the delay request during a Sept. 9 work session. Tuesday morning, they quickly and unanimously approved the measure to halt implementation of the plan until 2019.
