Peoria councilman challenges decision to declare runoff in tight Palo Verde district

There may not be a runoff in the tight City Council race in the Palo Verde District after all.

Peoria City Councilman Ron Aames is challenging the city’s decision to send his contest for re-election to a runoff after outpolling his opponent in last month’s primary.

Aames said his attorney filed papers Tuesday in Maricopa County Superior Court, asking he be declared the outright winner in the Aug. 26 election over challenger Mike Finn.
