Phoenix Country Day School recently unveiled its $8.8 million aquatic center, which includes two heated pools and shaded seating.
The complex, funded by donations, replaces an older facility, which has been covered.
“We’ve had that for 40 years. It’s a great facility but it was showing its age,” said Patrick McHonett, director of admissions and marketing at the Paradise Valley private school.
The new center includes a 50-meter eight-lane competition pool and a 25-yard teaching pool. The school includes swimming lessons in the physical-education program for its 750 K-12 students.
