The Scottsdale City Council this week approved a rezoning request to permit a larger number of lots in a 40-acre, planned residential community east of Pima Road in the far northern part of the city.
Scottsdale-based Rosewood Homes is planning to develop Sierra Highlands at the northeastern corner of 84th Street, which is currently a dirt road, and Black Mountain Road. The approval includes the developer, Kimley Horn, paving a portion of 84th Street to Black Mountain Road.
The council approved an increase in lots from 20 to 25 for Sierra Highlands.
Residents asked that the city include traffic-calming devices to slow traffic along 84th Street.
