A crowd estimated at 1,100 poured on the criticism Wednesday night in Sun City against a plan by EPCOR Water to consolidate the utility’s five wastewater service districts into one companywide district.
The move would nearly double customers’ $18.11 monthly bills in Sun City while adding 11 percent to the $30.96 bill in Sun City West.
EPCOR officials have called the consolidation the fairest and most efficient way to bill ratepayers within its 57,000-customer system across Arizona for service and infrastructure upgrades, which are expected to be significant over the next decade in the Sun Cities.
