Two new developments in works for west end of Ahwatukee Foothills

Two new developments — one ready to break ground, the other still under review — are slated for the area southwest of where Pecos Road ends near the west boundary of South Mountain Park.

The first, on which construction is expected to begin next month, is a Taylor Morrison Homes development with 110 lots on 160 acres. The subdivision will be gated with homes ranging from 3,100 to 4,600 square feet. Greg Abrams of Taylor Morrison Homes said he expects they’ll be ready to sell the homes by the end of 2015.

The subdivision, known as The Promontory at Foothills West, will have lot sizes of 80 by 125 feet with a good deal of open space. Abrams said the neighborhood will be hidden behind a ridge in the mountain, so it won’t be visible from any surrounding neighborhoods.
