Apple’s move to Mesa was Arizona’s biggest economic development win in years. It was supposed to propel the state’s post-recession high-wage jobs push, Scott Smith’s run for governor and the Eastmark development after First Solar’s panel factory fell flat.
Now the New Hampshire company that was supposed to make sapphire glass components for Apple at the Arizona plant has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The company, GT Advanced Technologies, has taken a very hard fall.
