In the short history of Johnson Ranch and San Tan Valley, it’s been all about the rooftops, with very little provision for the other components of a well-rounded community.
“Most of it has been developed to suit individual projects rather than a comprehensive approach,” Himanshu Patel, Pinal County Community Development director, said Tuesday.
The result is an unincorporated community of perhaps 90,000 people in which 80 percent of workers commute to a job outside the county. That’s where most of their spending occurs too.
