Chandler’s latest park additions not only propel the city toward its goal of one neighborhood park every square mile but also signify that the city is moving past the recession.
Centennial Park, a nearly 11-acre neighborhood park in south Chandler, opened on Oct. 3, and the approximately 9.5-acre Valencia Park, also in south Chandler, opened Oct. 10, according to Chandler spokeswoman Brooke Peterson.
The design for Centennial began in 2006 but the project was deferred when the economy slowed, Park Planning Superintendent Don Tolle said.
