Dorm-ant: Student housing amenities versus scholarly pursuits

Construction of student housing projects has been a trend at Arizona’s major universities over the past five years. Relevant to that, MHN Online conducted an online survey, asking whether student apartment niceties detract from the main reason students are in college — their studies.

Here are the results:

Yes, amenities might distract students from their studies. (10%)

No, students will find a way to distract themselves whether they have nice amenities or not. (52%)

Yes, amenitized off-campus housing hinders students from forming a bond with their institution. (10%)

No, these properties encourage community building that a dorm misses out on. (28%)
