LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paula Patton has filed for divorce from Robin Thicke and is asking for joint custody of their son.The “Precious” and “2 Guns” actress filed for divorce from the “Blurred Lines” and “Give It 2 U” singer Friday in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The 38-year-old actress and 37-year-old singer announced they were separating in February after nine years of marriage. They have a 4-year-old son. Continued

It was apparent that Robin wanted to work out their marital issues but Paula obviously decided it wasn’t going to work. It’s been reported that Robin threw a divorce party which isn’t uncommon these days. While I think it’s important to heal from your looming divorce in whatever way is most helpful, I would warn my clients against being involved in such a party during the process or at a minimum making sure any potential negative things do not end up on the internet about you as that could potentially affect custody and parenting in an adverse way. I’m happy to see that Paula is asking for joint custody and even though I don’t foresee any reason this divorce process will get nasty Robin’s divorce party escapades being broadcast for all the world to see could have an impact on Paula’s positions – but then again I am making assumptions off the little details available.
