Peoria City Council incumbent who received the most votes in his August primary dropped his re-election bid late Thursday after a Maricopa County Superior Court judge tossed out the lawsuit he filed against the city over election results.
Peoria Vice Mayor Ron Aames filed a lawsuit last month arguing that, according to a new state law, he won the primary election outright by garnering a majority of votes cast in the Palo Verde District. However, city officials had determined he fell short of a majority under their formula and would have to face challenger Michael Finn in a November runoff.
