Surprise officials shared some long-range ideas for the city’s growth at the Sept. 16 joint meeting of the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
One of its clearest visions is for land north and just east of the White Tank Mountain Regional Park. In 10 to 15 years, that area should have a resort near the park’s north entrance and an executive-style housing development or two north and east of the park, if city plans come to fruition.
The area is state trust land not currently within city limits but in the Surprise Planning Area. Officials said the city will develop a plan for this area that features low-density, upscale housing on large lots and the resort — both plans would include large swaths of preserve land and be developed with the area’s desert character in mind.
