Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Benjamin Norris is the first merit-selected judge to be voted off the bench in 36 years.
It was the only real question in county races Tuesday night.
Norris had been found unfit to serve by the state body that rates judicial performance, and the voters took the rating seriously.
No judge had been voted out since 1978 in a judicial retention election.
