The Democratic National Committee today announced that the three cities still under consideration to host the 2016 convention are Columbus, New York and Philadelphia. “This means the City of Phoenix is no longer under consideration and we wish whatever city hosts the convention well,” said Ann Wallack who was the liaison from the Arizona Democratic Party to the City of Phoenix in submitting the proposal to the DNC.
“It was a great experience submitting this proposal and hosting the site selection committee. Thanks go to Mayor Greg Stanton, Councilwoman Kate Gallego, the phenomenal City of Phoenix staff and ‘Visit Phoenix,’ all of who worked very hard to prepare the city’s strong proposal to host the convention,” Wallack said.
Appreciation also goes to the generous donors who contributed over $100,000 to host the site committee’s visit including CopperPoint Mutual Insurance Company and the University of Phoenix.
“The Super Bowl host committee submitted four proposals before initially being selected and we will have our turn some day,” Wallack predicted.
“We look forward to attending the 2016 Democratic National Convention in any of the three fine cities that are still under consideration. We know whichever one is selected will host a great convention,” she concluded.
